The spyglass appeared between the 16th and 17th centuries, it seems that it was invented by a Dutchman named Hans Lippershey.
At first it was widely used by sailors and pirates, although later it began to be used by travelers and naturalists, for example in ornithological observation.
This beautiful antique brass spyglass is presented with its wooden tripod and is really a beautiful reproduction of those used by navigators and astronomers in those centuries.
It is not an instrument designed for regular use, since it has practically no magnification in vision, it is more of a decorative object, but exquisitely crafted and with a "vintage" look that really makes it look like an authentic antique.
